I just scored 27,112 on a game of at://2048. Think you can do better? Join in on the fun with @2048.blue.
For an #atproto strava, I feel like GeoJSON would be much nicer to adapt to lexicons than the more common GPX or KML/KMZ. Anyone have experience with either? Or converting between them?
who up atprotating they KOMs strava's location based pricing is actually nuts, we can fix that. there's good open standards for activity tracking (GPX, KMZ), we need a good open platform to share this!
Hoping this can serve as a starting template for anyone trying to figure out how to make little ATProto apps. It's on @val.town so you can deploy your own version by just pressing "remix" here: www.val.town/x/wilhelm/Pr...
Weekend project! A little #atproto app for storing your runs in a custom lexicon. proto-runs.val.run
OK, made some progress on a forkable #atproto starter site hosted on @val.town! You can log in with OAuth and load some content from your account. Next up is lexicons! www.val.town/v/wilhelm/AT...
Also hugely helpful for wrapping my head around it was @typonomy.bsky.social's guide: whtwnd.com/typonomy.bsk...
Been ripping my hair out trying to get #atproto OAuth working in Deno. Found this neat project by @callmephilip.com with its own patch of @atproto/jwt-jose: github.com/callmephilip...
For vertical farming to work for cereals, energy would need to be insanely cheap. We underestimate how cheap a lot of outdoor farming is. That's good for feeding 9-10 billion people. But bad news for indoor competitors. I ran the numbers here: www.sustainabilitybynumbers.com/p/vertical-f...
Imagery is a powerful cornerstone of food marketing, as it plays a large role in what consumers ultimately choose to buy. But when it comes to the marketing of meat, dairy and eggs, the branding does not necessarily match reality. @jesslsr.bsky.social explains:
We have become so used to industrial bread that a "1 slice"-wide toaster won't fit any bread sold at... a bakery. It's a travesty!
This needs to be on food packaging. "For you to have this food, we effectively threw away 4-50 times as much food"
TIL: Lightweight multitenancy for server-side JS → github.com/pdubroy/til... I did some research into how various cloud providers are doing lighter weight isolation (i.e., not using containers) for server-side JS. Comments/corrections welcome!
Our book is about building a compiler for a toy, compile-to-Wasm language. At some point, we starting wondering…what's the smallest possible WebAssembly compiler? Could you make one that fits in tweet? 🤔 The answer is yes! wasmgroundup.com/blog/wasm-c...
Today I disassembled, cleaned and reassembled an espresso machine. I think I finally understand why people fix cars as a hobby.
I've spent my life piquing my curiosity and it has led to nothing useful. Now when something is merely interesting, I just groan. "Oh, that's interesting", you say? How unfortunate, I was hoping it was of any value whatsoever.
OK I'll say it. Keeping pets is weird. Animals are someones, not something, and I don't want to have that kind of control over someone. Totally cool with befriending local crows though.
Public APIs are cool. I'm mirroring my bluesky posts on @val.town: www.val.town/v/wilhelm/bsky
Maybe bluesky can be the place where I finally start to throw my scattered thoughts like those I followed on platforms of yore
How are aquariums and conservation related you ask? Well technically their whole deal is putting fish in big glass jars 🥁
